Laurel, Mississippi was put on the map by HGTV. But this fall, it was the kick off for a brand new program called the Hits & Heritage Fall Tour. This tour features Gold City, The Hoppers and Joseph Habedank for eight concerts across the country that highlight the artists largest career hits while honoring the heritage that led them to where they are today. The Gospel Music Roadshow was honored to be a part of the first two stops on the tour hosted at First Baptist Laurel in Laurel, Mississippi and First Baptist Trussville in Trussville, Alabama.
The tour begins with all three groups on the stage doing exactly what this program is all about: the hits and the heritage. From “Marriage Supper of the Lamb” from the Hoppers and “When I Get Carried Away” with Gold City, these songs immediately brought back decades of memories for followers of Gospel music. What was even more special? Dean Hopper and Joseph Habedank were both featured on a verse of “When I Get Carried Away.” After the evening opened with all three groups singing some of their largest hits, Gold City and Joseph Habedank left the stage and the Hoppers took center stage to sing their most popular songs. From “Jerusalem” to “That’s Him,” “Yes, I Am” and many more, each song reminded you of this family’s six decades of ministry on the road. Following, Joseph Habedank took the stage with songs like “Here He Comes,” “The Basement” and “Forgiven,” along with his powerful testimony of breaking free from addiction. Then Gold City takes the stage with tunes from a catalog of 45 years, such as; “God’s Building A Church,” “It’s Still The Cross,” “Rise Up,” etc. The evening concluded with The Hoppers, Joseph Habedank and Gold City all together on stage singing even more of their classic songs. And if you’re thinking some of those had to be “Midnight Cry” and “Shoutin’ Time,” you would be correct.
The Hits & Heritage Fall Tour is a program you don’t want to miss. If you’re reading this in time to make it to some of the tours last few dates in early October, GMR highly recommends it. Not only is the tour unique in its mission to program a night of each artist’s most popular songs, it hits the bullseye each time. The legacy and music that each artist presents, collectively and individually, not only tells the story of Gospel music, but the redemption of each one of us who call Jesus our Lord and Savior. The Gospel Music Roadshow also has word that the tour will be returning in 2026 – with a longer tour going to new states. So mark it down and be looking for an announcement in 2026! You will be glad you did!
