The Kingsmen are excited to announce their new lead vocalist, 29-year-old Josh Davis from Asheville, North Carolina. Josh joins the quartet thanks to the recommendation of former Kingsmen and Kingdom Heirs lead vocalist Arthur Rice.
Josh has grown up in the Asheville area as a member of Trinity Baptist Church, and has been surrounded by gospel music and the Kingsmen. He presently serves as Music Ministry Assistant and Youth Worship Leader at Trinity. He lives in Candler with his lovely wife of 5 years, Makaela.
Baritone and stage manager Alan Kendall shares, “When we first heard Josh sing, we heard more than a magnificent voice. We heard an anointing. Both his stage presence and his genuine demeanor exude a fervent love for the Lord, and he sings like a young man who has been waiting and preparing for a moment such as this his whole life. We loved this guy from minute one and the fans will too!”
Arthur Rice shares in the excitement of the Kingsmen by saying, “I’ve had the privilege of working with Josh over the past several years at Trinity Baptist Church. What a talented young man! His dedicated work with our teens and music department shows his heart for the Lord. I’m excited to watch his dream of singing in a quartet will be with my friends, the Kingsmen.”
Josh shares, “God’s timing is perfect, and this opportunity was a true testament to that. Having grown up in Asheville, especially at Trinity Baptist Church, I feel like I have always had a small connection to the Kingsmen. I’m humbled to be given the opportunity to fill the shoes of so many before me, and I’m honored to carry on the heritage that is the Kingsmen! To God be the glory!”
Josh joins the quartet in a very exciting season. The Kingsmen are already preparing to enter the studio and are selecting more new material. They are beginning their 70th Anniversary Tour this month, with stops at the Memphis Quartet Show (June 17), Mount Pleasant, Texas (June 18), and the Seminole Gospel Sing (June 20), joined by the Big & Live Band and special guest Bryan Hutson. Josh particularly looks forward to singing at the quartet’s 70th Anniversary Hometown Celebration at his home church, Trinity Baptist Church in Asheville, on July 10.
The Kingsmen also extend our appreciation to former lead singer Cole Watson for four tremendous years of growth, and most of all, a lifelong friendship. The saying still rings true. Once a Kingsman, always a Kingsman!
