“Maybe you have had a bad report from the doctor or family member,” says Richard Hyssong of Maine’s musical ministry, The Hyssongs. “Maybe you are struggling with finances, and think that it is the end. Let us encourage you to look to God, and know that it’s not over yet! He has the final say.” This moving reassurance forms the basis of “It’s Not Over Yet,” the new Horizon Records single from The Hyssongs — and for the family, it’s not just a song from the pen of acclaimed songwriters Jason Cox, Kenna Turner West and Brian White, but a powerfully personal message of faith. “Seventeen years ago, Kelly and I had our first…
“This song was written with every believer in mind,” says 11th Hour’s Amber Eppinette Saunders of the Southern Gospel trio’s latest single for Sonlite Records, “Just Keep the Faith.” And sure enough, the song — penned by Amber and longtime collaborators Kenna Turner West and Jason Cox — and its soulful arrangement by producer Roger Talley give her striking voice plenty of room to deliver a vigorous affirmation: Sometimes we grow weary from all of the trials we go through Yeah it’s the same story, from the stage to the pew Heartaches and troubles, I know them well But I’m here to tell you what I’m telling myself Just keep the faith as you…
The Kingsmen are excited to announce their new lead vocalist, 29-year-old Josh Davis from Asheville, North Carolina. Josh joins the quartet thanks to the recommendation of former Kingsmen and Kingdom Heirs lead vocalist Arthur Rice. Josh has grown up in the Asheville area as a member of Trinity Baptist Church, and has been surrounded by gospel music and the Kingsmen. He presently serves as Music Ministry Assistant and Youth Worship Leader at Trinity. He lives in Candler with his lovely wife of 5 years, Makaela. Baritone and stage manager Alan Kendall shares, “When we first heard Josh sing, we heard…
“As America celebrates 250 years of freedom and liberty,” says The Inspirations’ Roland Kesterson, “we have to ask ourselves the question, what is American culture? From our nation’s humble beginning, music has always played a part of our American culture — from the fife and drums on the revolutionary battlefield, to the piano and guitar in the parlors of early America, to the violin, guitar, piano and pump organ in the mountains that laid the foundation for the music that we all love.” “And what would American culture be without Gospel music?” he adds, making the final connection to the music contained on…
“This album, if it has a theme, seems to be about recognizing the good in life,” says Southern Gospel singer-songwriter Mark Bishop about Where Do Blessings Come From?, his upcoming collection for Sonlite Records now available for pre-save/add ahead of its July 17 release. “It seems to be about healing of heart and mind in troubled times. It’s about recognizing that our best times are not behind us, but that our happiest moments still wait somewhere in the future.” “God gives us hope,” he adds. “This world most often promises much more than it can deliver. But God promises our greatest joy is yet to be experienced.” And indeed, from the…
“About three years ago,” recalls singer/songwriter Lauren Talley as she recounts the origins of her latest single for Horizon Records, “I saw a YouTube video that completely changed how I look at life and ministry. The Passion Conference, held in Atlanta, showed a moment where the worship leaders stopped singing, fell on their faces before the Lord, and the entire stadium was overcome by the presence of God. That video taught me to pursue His presence above all else. “Out of inspiration from watching that,” she continues, “I took ‘Look At The Lamb’ to my friend Tony Wood, and together wrote what I think will be an anthem for the church…
May 19, 2026 — “For me,” says the Kingsmen’s Alan Kendall, “this album is both a culmination and a beginning for the Kingsmen,” and though he’s speaking for himself, listeners are likely to agree. Sub-titled “A Seventieth Anniversary Celebration,” Still Jesus, the quartet’s upcoming collection for Horizon Records, both pays homage to their storied history and brings their beloved sound to songs never heard before. The album is now available for pre-save/add ahead of its July 10 release. “We have always been diligent to honor our Kingsmen roots,” Kendall continues, “but those exact same roots also tell us that the Kingsmen have always been a forward-thinking group. We kept those very thoughts in mind when selecting the songs…
May 15, 2026 — After the stately, reverential “In Christ Alone,” Southern Gospel’s Anthem Edition are dialing up the energy with their latest Sonlite Records single, “Something’s Going On ‘Round Here.” “Something’s going on… can you feel it in the air?” asks the group’s Tim Rackley, echoing the song’s thematic center. “From Galilee to every heart, His love is moving everywhere. The Man from Galilee is still changing lives — this is more than a song, it’s a stirring of His presence.” From its opening guitar lick, “Something’s Going On ‘Round Here” leans on country flavors, including resonator guitar and fiddle from legendary studio musician, David Johnson, to keep the energy level…
Josh Singletary is the pianist and baritone vocalist for Tribute Quartet. Over his 25 year tenure in Gospel music, Josh has released a select number of piano instrumental albums. These albums have been intentional concerning purpose and themes, and we find his latest release, Peace: Instrumental Hymns Volume 1, among that number. To give a little background on how this instrumental album is unique, we must pause and examine a few terms in frequencies and sound. Before World War Two, all recordings were captured in A432 or 432Hz. After the war, it changed to A440 or 440Hz. So now, when…
As spring starts to seep into the veins of Western Canadians and we see new hope on the horizon after a long winter, we begin to think about camps, special events, and opportunities for some great gospel music. The Deer Valley Meadows Gospel Music Weekend is just one of those opportunities that I’ve had the privilege of experiencing for myself. This event, which started over 40 years ago as a weekend of Cowboy Poetry and music, has transformed into a beloved Gospel Music weekend held at the beautiful Deer Valley Meadows Bible Camp in Alex, Alberta. In 2005, the well-loved…
